Gautam Prakash |
|
Gautam is a General Partner at Monsoon Capital, LLC, a Massachusetts-based hedge fund focusing on mid-cap companies traded on the Indian stock exchanges. Prior to founding Monsoon Capital, Gautam was a General Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, a US$1+ billion private equity firm focusing on technology and healthcare investments. During his eight years with Bessemer, Gautam managed business process outsourcing investments and co-led Bessemer's healthcare practice. He was specifically responsible for setting investment strategy and generating deal flow in business services (outsourcing, staffing, IT services) and healthcare (services, software, devices, diagnostics), helping to grow the team of investment professionals three times and accelerating the investment pace tenfold. Gautam was a member of the Board of Directors of ten portfolio companies and led follow-on financings for most of the companies. In addition, Gautam worked with McKinsey & Company as a business analyst specializing in strategic and organizational issues for healthcare companies.
Gautam is currently an advisor of WTP Capital and of ChrysCapital, a hybrid hedge fund and private equity fund based in New Delhi and San Francisco. ChrysCapital primarily invests in publicly-traded Indian outsourcing companies as well as U.S.-based businesses with back-office operations in India. Gautam is also consultant for Everest Ventures, Bessemer Trust's US$700 million private equity fund-of-funds program. The fund-of-funds is invested in 45 U.S.-based venture firms across multiple stages, sectors, and geographies.
Gautam received a B.S. degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry and a B.A. degree in Economics, summa cum laude, from Yale University. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of The New England Venture Capital Association, and President of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Boston Chapter, an organization devoted to the advancement of entrepreneurship. |
